Mise-en-scène

Mise-em-scene shows the viewer what is included in the scene and what you can infer from it.

For example:

  1. Dark rooms imply the building is an old country cottage.
  2. Small walkways and doors show that its a village.
  3. Doctor Martin being dressed in a suit suggests that he has a different job to the others in the village.
  4. Boxes show that Doc Martin may have only just moved into the cottage.
  5. The police men is introduced hovering, from this we can tell that their is either small crime or no crime as he has spear time to hover the police station.
  6. no cars in the clip and no traffic shows the village has a little amount of people and the village is small, no need for a car. 
  7. Doc Martin gives a prescription to a lady he meets in the village town, from this it shows that the village is more relaxed.
  8. country clothing suggests farm workers and the veg shows from a near by farm market.
  9. traditional school also suggests it to be an old village because the school is over looked but people walking by.
